The number of ".CN" top-level domain names in my country exceeds 23 million!

On November 15th, the "2nd China Internet Basic Resources Conference (CNIRC 2020)" was inaugurated in Beijing, under the guidance of the Cyberspace Administration of China, organized by the China Internet Network Information Center and the Computer Network Information Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Yang Xiaowei, Deputy Director of the Cyberspace Administration of China, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

Yang Xiaowei pointed out that during the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, China's internet industry has developed vigorously and achieved remarkable results. The size of the digital economy has grown from 11 trillion yuan at the beginning of the "13th Five-Year Plan" to 35.8 trillion yuan in 2019, accounting for over 36% of the GDP and contributing 67.7% to the GDP growth rate. Over the past five years, China's internet basic resources sector has achieved rapid development, with the number of internet users increasing from 688 million in 2016 to 940 million in 2020. The internet penetration rate has risen from 50.3% to 67.0%, surpassing the global average. China's top-level domain ".CN" has exceeded 23 million, making it the world leader during the "13th Five-Year Plan" period. The deployment of IPv6 has accelerated, highlighting the fundamental role of internet basic resources in the digital economy.

Yang Xiaowei emphasized that the construction of internet basic resources should always consider the "two overall situations," proactively adapt to and lead the transformation of internet basic resources, grasp various "variables," continually explore development paths, nurture new opportunities in crises, open up new prospects in changing situations, and contribute more to the construction of a powerful internet nation.

Firstly, it is necessary to seize the significant opportunities presented by global information technology and industrial upgrades, promote the construction of internet basic resources, enhance the application level of the national top-level domain name, actively promote Chinese domain names, advance the ecological construction of IP address allocation, and accelerate the deployment of IPv6 at scale. Efforts should be made to cultivate new growth points in the industry, vigorously develop new engines for digital economic growth, and provide strong support for the establishment of a new development pattern that promotes mutual domestic and international circulation.

Secondly, it is crucial to seize the opportunities of transitioning from the internet to the full-internet era, vigorously develop core technologies in the field of internet basic resources, and actively build the ecosystem of internet basic resources. Accelerate the application of blockchain, big data, and artificial intelligence in the field of internet basic resources, construct an advanced system of internet basic resource technology, products, and services, and provide strong guarantees for the rapid development of the digital economy.

Thirdly, it is important to establish the correct security perspective, strengthen education on network security, and continually enhance awareness of network security. Build a real "firewall" for network security in our minds, effectively strengthen the protection of critical information infrastructure, improve the awareness of network security situation and emergency response capabilities, further enhance the security assurance system of the national top-level domain name system, and safeguard the security of the digital economy.

Fourthly, it is essential to adhere to the "Four Principles" and "Five-Point Initiative" of global internet governance, actively participate in the reform of international internet institutions, drive the global internet system towards a more equal, open, and cooperative global cyberspace community, and ensure that China's internet and digital dividends are more widely shared.

It is reported that the theme of this conference is "Building a Solid 'Foundation' and Converging for the Future." Focused on the overall development of a strong internet nation, the conference provides a platform for industry exchange, cooperation, and innovation, concentrating on the forefront of technology in the field of internet basic resources, promoting the development and improvement of the internet basic resource technology system, consolidating the foundation of internet applications, and facilitating high-quality development of the digital economy. Prominent figures such as Hu Qiheng, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Zhou Hongren, former Executive Deputy Director of the National Informatization Expert Advisory Committee, as well as experts from relevant industry units such as the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, scholars from domestic think tanks, universities, and research institutions, representatives of entrepreneurs, domestic registration bureaus, registrars, and the IP Address Allocation Alliance, among others, attended the conference.
