Identify the practical use of this specific name. If you find it difficult to create a list of potential uses, or if your list has only one or two possibilities, you may want to consider another name. The more potential buyers, the better.

This point relates to the quality of the domain. Imagine someone offering you seed capital to start your business, perhaps $50,000. If you had the money and the necessary skills, would you choose this particular name as the foundation of your business? If you wouldn't risk your funds on this domain for business, why would someone else?
3. How Will I Price This Name?
Decide how to price the domain before acquiring it. While you might think worrying about pricing later is acceptable, whether this acquisition makes sense depends on the price and potential selling rate. If you struggle to suggest a price, is it because you don't understand the niche or industry well enough? If, considering the niche market and potential uses, the price should be fairly low, does this acquisition still make sense?

6. Can I Afford to Take This Risk?
No name can guarantee a profit, or even a sale at all. Are you prepared to never sell the name and lose your entire investment? How close is your acquisition price to the potential quick-sale liquid value?
7. Is This the Best Use of My Money?
This is one of the most critical points but often overlooked. Your spending on domains is limited. Use it wisely. So, for every acquisition, compare it to other ways you might use these funds.
8. What Is My Sales Strategy?
Once you have the name, what actions will you take to increase its chances of selling? Where will you list the name? If they are carefully targeted markets, what is the likelihood of this specific name being accepted?
9. Do You Plan to Only Buy or Also Make Offers? If So, How Much?
Do you plan to use outbound efforts to increase the chances of selling this name? If so, which specific companies or types of companies will you contact? What will you say in your brief outreach communication about this name as a promotion?
10. Does Holding This Name Create Stress?
Are there risks (such as potential trademark or other legal issues) associated with this name? Even if you think everything is fine, considering there are many names every day, do you want to deal with this stress?
