In 2018, Richard Blair purchased the controversial lambo.com domain name from the domain name marketplace for $10,000. In defense of his ownership of the domain, Blair claimed that“Lambo”was his name and that he had long used it as a username on the domain name forum NamePros. However, this was not the case, and the court found, after a thorough investigation and rigorous evidentiary review, that the alleged nickname“Lambo”was not used until after his acquisition of the domain name, a key detail that was highly prejudicial to him.

The owner of the Lambo.com domain has launched an appeal against Automobili Lamborghini

The time has come in 2022, when Automobili Lamborghini, a renowned automobile manufacturer, filed a dispute resolution application under the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) with the relevant authorities for the attribution of the domain name lambo.com, and successfully won the dispute. According to the normal procedure, the ownership of the domain name should be determined to be owned by Lamborghini. However, Blair, as the owner of the domain name, was not willing to accept this result, and he subsequently filed a lawsuit, strongly requesting a stay of this ruling in an attempt to get a chance to keep the domain name for himself.

In this high-profile lawsuit, Lamborghini filed a motion for summary judgment with the court in order to protect its legal rights. After careful deliberation and weighing its options, the court granted Lamborghini's motion last month and issued a definitive ruling that the lambo.com domain name be formally transferred to Lamborghini, a decision that appears to have legally brought the domain name dispute to a close.

But things didn't die down there, and Blair clearly doesn't intend to give up easily. Just last week, he filed a notice of appeal to a higher court, and he's determined to keep fighting for the domain name. Currently, the lambo.com domain name is still resolving to a special landing page, which surprisingly shows the domain name for sale at $75 million, a high price that once again highlights the huge value behind the domain name and the intensity of the fight between the two sides.
