Last July, Meta (formerly Facebook) launched a social networking service to compete with Twitter (now known as X). The service is branded as Threads, and the company uses the Threads.net domain as its platform.Threads.com is owned by another company that was highlighted by Fast Company after Meta launched Threads.

Threads.net
In June of this year, the apps running on Threads.com were sold to Shopify, and there has been speculation that this acquisition may allow Meta to acquire the Threads.com domain for its Threads platform.
According to DomainTools' Whois records, Threads.com was registered in May white 1995 and has been acquired by Meta. More precisely, the new registrant is Instagram, owned by Meta. Although the Threads.com domain has not yet resolved to a working website, it has Facebook.com nameservers. The domain appears to have changed hands in the last 24 hours. It moved from GoDaddy to RegistrarSEC.

I suspect we'll soon see Threads move to Threads.com I haven't heard much about Threads lately, but I wouldn't be surprised if this acquisition gives the platform a boost. I also wouldn't be surprised if the sale price is disclosed in the SEC filing because Shopify and Meta are both publicly traded companies and I think this is a very big deal.
