Recently, Hotel Engine announced that it has changed its company name to Engine, marking a major transition in its branding strategy, according to domain investor Elliot Silver, who posted content on X. The company has successfully acquired the valuable domain name Engine.com in June and transferred its domain name to Cloudflare, which is currently registered under Whois privacy protection. The name change is not only part of the brand upgrade, but it also means that Engine will expand its range of services to offer more business travel solutions.

According to Fortune Magazine, the Engine.com domain has now been forwarded to HotelEngine.com, and in October, the company is expected to fully complete its brand name change, consolidating the existing Hotel Engine brand into Engine. This change is intended to remove the limitations of the previous brand name and allow the company to offer a more comprehensive range of travel services in the future, not just hotel reservations. and not just hotel bookings.
In an official announcement, Engine said, “When we started this journey, we were focused on revolutionizing the way businesses book hotels. But our customers asked for more, and we listened to them. Our transition to Engine marks our expansion into providing a full range of business travel solutions for our customers. With the addition of flights and cars, our customers can manage all their business travel on one platform.”
Previously, the Engine.com domain was registered on GoDaddy under a Whois privacy protection registration. Prior to the transfer to Cloudflare, the domain was owned by a domain investor. While the exact price for the acquisition of the Engine.com domain name is not known at this time, given its market value, an asking price in the seven figures (or more) would not be surprising. The size and nature of this deal is similar to the recent sale of Rocket.com, which sparked much industry interest.
Engine is now valued at $2.1 billion, demonstrating its strong competitiveness in the industry. With a brand name change and service expansion, the company expects to further solidify its position in the business travel market.
