Leading email marketing platform ConvertKit recently announced that it has officially changed its name to Kit and migrated its former domain name, ConvertKit, to the new domain name, kit.com.The change marks the final realization of the company's rebranding, which has taken nearly six years to complete.
ConvertKit founder Nathan Barry first went public with the idea of the company's planned rebranding in 2018. In an interview with the Domain Name Wire Podcast, Barry mentioned that the company had considered renaming the brand to Seva and had invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in a new domain name for that purpose. However, for a number of reasons, this plan ultimately failed to materialize and ConvertKit continued to operate under its original name.

As ConvertKit continued to grow over the next few years, with monthly recurring revenues now reaching $1 million, Barry and his team realized that the company needed a name that better aligned with its current market position and vision for the future. After a long period of thought and preparation, ConvertKit finally decided to rename the brand to Kit and launch kit.com as the new domain name.
In a new interview, Barry details the challenges and solutions the company encountered during the name change process, including the failures of the last rebranding. He explains that the original name change plan failed to materialize due to factors such as resource allocation and marketing strategy, and that Kit's new name and domain name will now better reflect the company's growth and brand vision.
Barry also revealed how the Kit brand is better aligned with the company's business direction and customer needs, and looked ahead to future growth strategies following the brand transition.Kit will continue to focus on providing users with effective email marketing tools, while further strengthening its position in the marketplace with a new brand identity.
