At the end of the first quarter of 2023, the total number of domain registrations for all top-level domains (TLDs) reached 354 million, showing an increase of 3.5 million domain registrations compared to the fourth quarter of 2022, with a growth rate of 1.0%. When compared to the same period last year, there was also an additional 3.5 million domain registrations, representing a growth rate of 1.0%.
As of the end of the first quarter of 2023, the combined domain registration total for .com and .net top-level domains (TLDs) stood at 174.8 million, reflecting an increase of 1 million domain registrations from the fourth quarter of 2022, with a growth rate of 0.6%.
1. Top-Level Domains
Compared to the same period last year, the combined domain registration count for .com and .net top-level domains (TLDs) has increased by 100,000, showing a growth rate of 0.1%.
As of March 31, 2023, the total number of .com domains is 161.6 million, while .net domains total 13.2 million.
2. Country Code Top-Level Domains
By the end of the first quarter of 2023, the total domain registrations for country code top-level domains (ccTLDs) reached 135.7 million, marking an increase of 2.6 million domain registrations from the fourth quarter of 2022, with a growth rate of 2.0%. When compared to the same period last year, ccTLD domain registrations increased by 2.3 million, representing a growth rate of 1.7%.
3. New Generic Top-Level Domains
At the end of the first quarter of 2023, the total domain registrations for new generic top-level domains (ngTLDs) reached 27.3 million, which is a decrease of 200,000 domain registrations from the fourth quarter of 2022, with a decline rate of 0.6%. In comparison to the same period last year, ngTLD domain registrations increased by 900,000, showing a growth rate of 3.6%.
