According to data disclosed by the new registry operator Identity Digital on March 27, the market heat of .AI domain names continues to heat up. In the past month alone, the sales of expired domain name auctions exceeded $600,000.

Identity Digital officially took over the management of .AI (Anguilla country code top-level domain) on February 25, 2024, and quickly adjusted the domain name auction mechanism. Previously, the registry management agency of .AI domain names relied on Dynadot to hold expired domain name auctions once a month. Under the new management structure, Identity Digital chose Namecheap as the auction platform and switched to a daily auction model, which greatly increased the transaction frequency and market activity.

In addition, Identity Digital also included .AI domain names in its DropZone system. This system allows domain names that failed to sell in the auction to enter a centralized bidding process and be competed for by major registrars, rather than directly deleting and reopening for registration. This model not only optimizes the efficiency of domain name redistribution, but also further enhances market value.
According to Identity Digital’s announcement, the company’s regular .AI domain name registration revenue in March increased by 60% year-on-year. Obviously, with the continued explosion in the field of artificial intelligence, .AI domain names are becoming a hot asset for global investors and companies. With the optimization of the auction mechanism and the increase in market demand, the price and transaction volume of .AI domain names may rise further in the future.
