Recently, according to foreign media reports, the jewelry company GLD has migrated its website from TheGLDShop.com to GLD.com.

A successful jewelry newcomer has obtained a major domain upgrade.

After acquiring the GLD.com domain from domain investor Richard Lau, GLDShop has been renamed to GLD. Lau told Domain Name Wire that he sold the domain for $1 million.

GLD's jewelry sales business is thriving, with customers including Justin Bieber, Cardi B, Russell Westbrook, and Kevin Durant. It also collaborates with the NFL, MLB, NBA, NCAA, and Marvel.

Despite the company's tremendous success, it did not have a good domain name. It used TheGLDShop.com and ShopGLD.com as its website addresses. gld.com was registered in August 1995 and has been around for nearly 30 years.

Last year, the domain was sold to the company. It recently just switched its website and now redirects its other domains to GLD.com.

According to WHOIS records, the switch appears to have occurred within the past ten days.

GLD is a variation of the word "gold." It also happens to be the stock code for the Gold Exchange Traded Fund (ETF). This three-letter domain name is extremely rare, and it is reported that other three-letter domain names such as PZP are also for sale.
