Many domain investors find it challenging to grasp the mindset of domain buyers. Insufficient understanding of buyer needs and expectations often poses challenges in negotiation and pricing.

To shed light on this, three end users were contacted to share their unique stories, each offering a different perspective. Let's delve into their experiences.

1. SquidVision.com: A Journey from Lease to Ownership

"When creating SquidVision, our initial plan was to use the domain SeerMetrics.com. However, we were concerned about its memorability. Hence, we explored available .com domains in the public market and ultimately chose SquidVision.com, acquired through HugeDomains.com. We paid over $2,200 for the domain, but we had no qualms about the expense, especially since HugeDomains allowed us to pay in eight monthly installments."

2. SeoWorks.com: An "Upgrade" After Using ccTLD

"Approximately 2-3 years ago, we acquired SeoWorks.com to expand our international reach. Our existing domain, seoworks.co.uk, primarily targeted the UK. Acquiring a new .com domain enabled us to offer our digital growth services to a broader international audience.

The acquisition involved direct negotiations with the previous owner, with whom we had prior interactions. When he concluded his business, he reached out to us to inquire if we were interested in purchasing the domain. After negotiations, we settled on a price of approximately $15,000 for the domain and some related assets. The transfer process was smooth, with funds held in escrow until both parties confirmed the completion of all agreed-upon terms."

3. ExplodingIdeas.com: End User in an Expired Domain Auction

"In July of this year, we purchased ExplodingIdeas.com for $2,100 in a GoDaddy auction. I understood that securing the perfect name was crucial for shaping our startup's brand, aiding our team in ideation and brainstorming.

Upon seeing ExplodingIdeas listed for auction, I promptly acquired it – the name perfectly aligned with our explosive approach. We did get caught up in a bidding war, but considering all factors, I still believe it was a fair price."
