On the morning of July 2nd, the 2026 National Embossed Intelligence Technology Application Competition Grand Finals grandly opened at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). As one of the core events of the first Shanghai International Embossed Intelligence Industry Expo (CIEI 2026), this competition aims to actively respond to the national "15th Five-Year Plan" strategic deployment regarding the development of new quality productivity and the promotion of new industrialization, and to thoroughly implement the "Implementation Opinions on the Special Action of 'Artificial Intelligence + Manufacturing'" jointly issued by eight departments including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, to promote the empowerment of new manufacturing industries by artificial intelligence, and to focus on cultivating innovative engineering talents with interdisciplinary, highly collaborative, and practice-oriented skills.

The opening ceremony of the 2026 National Embodied Intelligence Technology Application Competition was held on-site.
This competition was hosted by the Chinese Society for Simulation Research, and organized by the New Industrial Virtual Training Simulation Professional Committee of the Chinese Society for Simulation Research, the Education and Training Working Committee of the China Association for Mechatronics Technology Application, and Shanghai International Exhibition (Group) Co., Ltd. Support was provided by the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, Fluke Instruments, Zhijiao New Media, and Qingkui Intelligent Manufacturing, among others. The competition focused on the forefront of embodied intelligence technology and the needs of industrial applications, setting up four competition categories across two dimensions: innovative development and technological application. These categories included: embodied intelligence innovative scenario application, embodied intelligence robot system assembly and adjustment, embodied intelligence data acquisition and processing, and embodied intelligence model training and fine-tuning, comprehensively covering the entire chain from innovative scenarios to model training. 117 teams from over 60 universities entered the finals.
At the opening ceremony, Professor Du Dajun, a director of the Chinese Society for Simulation Research, delivered a speech. He stated that embodied intelligence, as a key technology for the interaction between artificial intelligence and the physical world, has become a new high ground in global technological competition. This competition tested students' technical skills in real-world scenarios and provided a broad platform for university students to showcase their innovative achievements and connect with industry needs.

Professor Du Dajun, Director of the Chinese Simulation Society, delivered a speech.
Professor Wang Xiaoyong, Director of the Education and Training Working Committee of the China Association for Mechatronics Technology Application and Professor at Hangzhou Vocational and Technical University, took an oath on behalf of all judges, promising to strictly enforce the rules and ensure fair and impartial judging to guarantee the fairness and impartiality of the competition. Wu Liang, a student from Jiangxi Mechanical and Electrical Vocational Technical College, took an oath on behalf of all participating contestants.

The Grand Final
Since its launch, this competition has attracted enthusiastic participation from over a hundred universities across the country, specializing in artificial intelligence, robotics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, automation, computer science, and electronic information engineering. Participants registered as teams, with cross-disciplinary and inter-departmental collaboration possible. The competition consisted of two stages: a preliminary round and a national final. The competition format covered the entire process of technical theory, practical debugging, and project defense, with scores given on-site by expert judges and referees.

Track 1: Assembly and adjustment of embodied intelligent robot system

Track 2: Embodied Intelligence Data Acquisition and Processing

Track 3: Embodied Intelligent Model Training and Fine-tuning

Track 4: Embodied Intelligence Innovation Scenarios
In 2026, embodied intelligence was included in the government work report for the first time, officially rising to the level of a national strategy. The inaugural Shanghai International Embodied Intelligence Industry Expo, held concurrently, focused on the cutting-edge integration of the entire embodied intelligence industry chain under the theme "Embodied Intelligence, Intelligent Creation of the Future," attracting over 200 leading companies in the industry. This competition, as the core content of the expo's "Competition and Evaluation" section, not only comprehensively tests the technical and practical capabilities of the participating teams but also serves as a crucial link in promoting the deep integration of vocational education and industry practice.
