Earlier this month, CentralNic announced the successful migration of over 3.3 million .co domains from GoDaddy to its own servers, marking the second-largest migration in global top-level domain (TLD) history. The entire process took 29 hours, demonstrating CentralNic's technical and operational expertise in domain name management.

Originally the Colombian country code top-level domain (ccTLD), the .co domain has become widely used by startups and tech companies worldwide due to its short, memorable, and global branding attributes.

3.3 Million .co Domains Successfully Migrated to CentralNic's System

In June 2025, the Colombian Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies (MINTIC) awarded the .co operation rights to "Equipo PuntoCo," a consortium consisting of Team Internet (now CentralNic) and Colombian registrar CCI REG, through a public tender. The contract is for 10 years.

This migration not only surpassed the 3.1 million .au domains that migrated from Neustar to Afilias in 2018, but also ranked second globally, behind only the 4 million .in domains that migrated from GoDaddy to Tucows in May 2025.

CentralNic stated that the migration was completed smoothly, without any service interruption to users. The success of this migration further solidifies CentralNic's leading position in global domain name management and lays a solid foundation for its future development in domain name operations and technical services.
