Punktum dk, the registry for Denmark's top-level domain .dk, announced that it will cease direct sales to end-users starting July 1, 2026, and will transition entirely to management and sales through registrars (resellers).

According to the official announcement, all new .dk domain name registrations will now be processed through an authorized registrar. Existing domain name holders registered directly with Punktum dk will be given a transition period, with up to June 30, 2028, to select a registrar to take over management services.

The registry stated that this move aims to simplify the process for domain name holders, allowing them to simply contact the registrar for registration, renewal, invoicing, and other tasks. The new system will also help attract more international registrars to the Danish market, promote competition, and maintain high security standards, including continued implementation of protocols such as DNSSEC.

Punktum dk emphasized that while it will no longer directly face end customers, it will continue to monitor registrar compliance and ensure the security and stability of the .dk domain name system. The registry's new contract is expected to take effect on April 1, 2026, with the official transition fully implemented by July 2026.
