Solventum Corporation is an American healthcare company that was spun off from 3M Company on April 1, 2024.
On July 26, 2022, 3M announced the spinoff of its healthcare division into an independent company to streamline operations. The new company will assume control of 3M's wound and oral care, health informatics, and biopharmaceutical filtration businesses. Sales of these products accounted for approximately a quarter of 3M's total sales in 2021. CEO Mike Roman stated that the spinoff will "position 3M for the future, creating more opportunities and greater certainty."
Bloomberg News stated that the move follows a period of declining profits at 3M due to shifting economic trends and will "completely reshape a company known for its diverse product lines, including electronic components, dental adhesives, and Post-it Notes." In fact, on the same day the spinoff was announced, 3M subsidiary Aearo Technologies filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection after settling allegations that defective earplugs it produced for U.S. military personnel damaged their hearing.

On January 24, 2023, 3M's healthcare business was incorporated in Delaware under the provisional name "3M Health Care Co." On November 16, 2023, 3M announced that the new company would be renamed Solventum, a portmanteau of "solving" and "momentum."
The spinoff was completed on April 1, 2024, with 3M retaining approximately 19.9% of Solventum's shares.
On February 25, 2025, Thermo Fisher Scientific announced it would acquire the company's purification and filtration business for $4.1 billion.
Solventum's inaugural CEO is Bryan Hanson, who will hold the position effective September 1, 2023.
