Comcast is a major cable TV, broadband Internet and IP phone service provider in the United States. It was founded by Ralph J. Roberts in 1963 and is headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It has 24.6 million cable TV users, 14.4 million broadband Internet users and 5.6 million IP phone users. It is the largest cable TV company in the United States. Comcast is also the second largest Internet service provider in the United States, second only to AT&T.

Comcast, formerly known as "Comcast Holdings", is a global communications conglomerate based in the United States; through the Xfinity brand, its revenue ranks first in the global telecommunications and cable TV markets. Comcast is also the second largest pay-TV service provider in the United States; the largest cable TV and home Internet access service provider, and the third largest home telephone service provider. Comcast Group provides commercial services in 40 states and the District of Columbia. Comcast Group is headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Since becoming the owner of the international media group NBC Universal Group in 2011, Comcast Group has also become a provider of movies and TV programs for channels such as theaters, wireless television, and cable television.
Comcast Group owns and operates Xfinity telecommunications and cable TV services; the national wireless television network (NBC and World Television); multiple cable TV channels (including MSNBC, CNBC, USA Network, NBCSN, E!, etc.); a film production company (Universal Pictures) and Universal theme parks and resorts in Los Angeles, California, Orlando, Florida, Osaka, Japan, and Beijing, China. Universal Studios Singapore is one of five Universal Studios theme parks operated by Comcast, but it is owned by Genting Group; other new Universal theme parks and resorts will be built or located in the future.
Comcast also has a number of holdings in digital distribution channels, such as the platform acquired in 2006. In February 2014, Comcast reached an equity swap agreement with Time Warner Cable worth $45.2 billion. Under the agreement, Comcast would eventually fully own Time Warner Cable. However, on April 24, 2015, Comcast terminated the agreement. Comcast reached an agreement with Charter Communications in June 2017 to enter into exclusive negotiations to acquire Sprint at a later date.
Comcast has been criticized for many reasons; its customer satisfaction with cable TV services ranks at the bottom of the industry. In addition, Comcast has violated net neutrality in the past; while Comcast has pledged to adhere to a narrow definition of net neutrality, critics say that definition ignores the difference between Comcast's dedicated network service and Comcast's other network access services. Critics also accuse Comcast of a lack of competition in most of its service areas and limited competition among cable TV providers.
In addition, given Comcast's negotiating power as a giant Internet access service provider, Comcast is likely to use the pay-per-view principle to unfairly affect end-user Internet access speeds. Comcast's ability to produce and distribute content has also raised industry concerns about "monopoly." These and other issues led to Comcast being voted the "worst company in the United States" by consumers twice in 2010 and 2014.
