Talend SAS is a French company that holds a series of TALEND trademark registrations, such as European trademark number 014226989, which was successfully registered on September 25, 2015. This time, the company launched a UDRP action against the domain name RenTALEND.com, which was only registered in 2024.

Case background
The complainant Talend SAS specializes in business intelligence and data visualization software. Its Talend platform is a data integration platform that is said to help organizations smoothly connect, transform and manage data from different systems and applications, and has more than 7,250 customers worldwide.
The complainant has many TALEND trademark registrations, and the disputed domain name RenTALEND.com was registered on October 3, 2024.
The respondent is Attila Balint Nagy, a Hungarian resident, who defended himself. Currently, the disputed domain name is resolved to a website called "Rentaland", and the page displays "Hello world! Welcome to WordPress. This is your first post. Edit or delete it, then start writing!".

Focus of the dispute
The complainant claims that it has met all the requirements of the Policy regarding the transfer of the disputed domain name.
It believes that the disputed domain name and its own trademark only differ in that the prefix "ren" is added to the beginning of TALEND. Such a minor change does not change the similarity between the two at the visual, phonetic or conceptual level, and is likely to cause consumers to be confused and mistakenly associate the disputed domain name with the complainant's brand and services.
However, the respondent stated that when registering the disputed domain name, it was completely unaware of the complainant and its TALEND trademark.

Although its intended use of the domain name is not completely grammatically accurate, the WIPO panel members recognized the validity of the intended use.
The respondent said that it plans to use the disputed domain name to create a customer-to-customer (C2C) lending and leasing platform. The respondent also provided evidence that it had built a WordPress sandbox website for such development before receiving the notice of dispute, and that other domain names it planned to use did not contain TALEND or similar words. Given that the respondent held the disputed domain name for a short period of time, it is reasonable to believe that no commercial website has been developed or launched during this period.
The final ruling is: Refuse to transfer the domain name RenTALEND.com to the complainant.
