EnCirca announced that the .locker domain extension will be launched to the public on October 23rd. This innovative domain name combines traditional registration with a Web3 digital identity on the Bitcoin blockchain to provide users with secure decentralized application access and cryptocurrency wallet management.

1. Creating a Secure Digital Identity
Thomas Barrett, president of EnCirca, said .locker is the first ICANN-approved domain extension designed to introduce the Bitcoin blockchain to mainstream users. Each .locker domain name is tokenized to become a user's unique identity in the Bitcoin ecosystem, supporting seamless access to Web3.
2. Connecting Web2 and Web3
The .locker domain name has both traditional Web2 functionality and a Bitcoin digital identity, enabling users to interact with Web3 applications such as DeFi and crypto wallets. Upon registration, users will receive an invitation from Leather, a digital wallet provider, and the domain name will be tokenized to NFT and securely stored in the Leather wallet.
3. Ensure user safety
Barrett also emphasized that .locker follows DNS industry standards to provide the necessary security against impersonation and fraud.
4、Limited Time Offer
The .locker domain will open on October 23, 2024 on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are currently open for a limited time offer of $15.
