SK-NIC, part of Team Internet, recently announced that it will auction off all 36 single-character .sk domain names in the coming months. This auction program also includes more than 200 two-letter domain names that match existing country code top-level domains (ccTLDs), as well as .com.sk and .net.sk domains that have been reserved to date.
Note: SK-NIC is the registry that manages and operates the Slovakia .sk domain name and is responsible for domain name registration, maintenance and policy development. It is affiliated with CentralNic in the United Kingdom and provides a variety of domain name registration services to promote Internet development in Slovakia.

According to SK-NIC's announcement, the auctions will be held every two months starting in November and will last for seven days, scheduled to begin on the 15th of each month. The first stage of the auction is the trademark priority phase, which will take place from October 1st to October 14th. During this period, trademark owners will be able to apply for a domain name matching their trademark for a fee of €300. Upon successful application, the associated domain name will cost EUR 3,000 (approximately USD 3,348) and may need to be acquired through an auction if there is a dispute.
SK-NIC also revealed that regular auctions start at €1,000 for two-character domain names, €1,500 for 26 single-character domain names, and €2,000 for other domain names. The detailed list of domains for sale (277 in total) has been posted on the official website, although it should be noted that sk.sk domains are not included in the auction list.
It is worth noting that .sk is the ccTLD for Slovakia, which is currently owned by CentralNic in the UK and has no local presence requirements. According to the registry, there are currently over 471,000 domain names registered.
With this series of auctions coming up, market interest in single and two-character domain names continues to rise, and is expected to attract a large number of investors and businesses to bid on them.
