In 2020, Brooklyn-based domain name investor Jeremy Green Eche purchased "HarrisWalz.com" along with many other potential political domain names. Eche calls himself "the most prominent political domain name grabber of all time".

When Vice President Kamala Harris announced Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate on Tuesday, the domain name HarrisWalz.com was already registered. In fact, the domain name had been snapped up four years earlier - and the snapper was not any candidate, but a forward-thinking Brooklyn investor.

Jeremy Green Eche, 36, is a trademark attorney who also runs an online marketplace specializing in buying and selling registered trademarks and domain names. Much of his fame comes from his domain name investing activities.
I also often refer to myself as a domain squatter or cybersquatter," says Eche. Although the term is somewhat derogatory, I don't mind it because it's really apt." He buys a large number of domain names each year on sites like GoDaddy and Name.com, primarily for various potential presidential candidates.
In August 2020, anticipating that Harris might run again, Eche snapped up 15 Harris-related domains and combined them with the names of a number of well-known political figures at the time, including Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (R), Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman (R), Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D), and Walz.
"There's probably four or five people who are also doing this, but I don't know them," he said. "I just think it's really fun to register a domain name and then get something like this in return, I'm like winning the lottery and getting some press coverage, it's kind of a good time for me."
While Etche wished Harris' campaign would have purchased HarrisWalz.com for the same $15,000 price, he also said the deal was still pretty good considering inflation. Harris' campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Within hours of Walz's announcement as Harris' running mate, HarrisWalz.com had already been purchased by another buyer for a high price. Eche revealed that this buyer was a Harris supporter who did not want a repeat of 2016.
Eche explained, "I absolutely did not want to wait in vain for the Harris campaign to contact me and risk not being able to sell."
