The domain name X.com was registered in April 1993, and is now available to all core systems of the website. Musk is said to have spent tens of millions of dollars to acquire the domain name, and X.com is one of only three single-letter domain names available (the other two are z.com and q.com).

It is interesting to note that Musk not only owns x.com, but also owns X.ai at the same time, which is used to build the Grok language macromodel.
