Shaadi is an Indian matrimonial and marriage services company that operates through the domain name Shaadi.com.
The domain was registered in 1996 and was acquired by its founder and CEO Anupam Mittal in the late 1990s for approximately $25,000.
In Indian English, "Shaadi" means wedding or marriage.

In a recent interview, Mr. Mittal revealed that although the company had $30,000 in its account at the time, he made the bold decision to invest in the domain name because he believed it would yield better results in the long run. The company initially operated under the domain Sagaai.com before transitioning to Shaadi.com.
The CEO of Shaadi stated:
"We saved about $30,000 for the company. We got Shaadi.com for around $25,000. $25,000 or $30,000 seemed a bit high, but I believed that without a domain name that could be ubiquitous and category-defining, it would have been tough, but it would have made our lives much easier. So, we spent all our money."
It's worth noting that Anupam Mittal's net worth is estimated at $2.2 billion.
