While China is having a good time of its life, there are two other countries at war on the other side of the world. That would be Russia and Ukraine. The affair has had a major impact on the economy and people's lives in both countries, as well as on domain name registrations.

According to local registries, Ukraine's ccTLDs saw a sharp drop in domains under management in the first quarter as the country enters its third year of Russian invasion.

Russia-Ukraine War Takes a Toll on .ua Domains

Hostmaster said the number of registered .ua domains fell 8 percent to 471,716 at the end of March.

The registry said the drop was largely due to the gradual deletion of 123,000 domains that had been gradually deleted since last November to avoid expiration when the 2022 war broke out.

It said .ua would still be accepting 255 new registrations a day regardless.

.ua is Ukraine's country's top-level domain (ccTLD), used to identify Ukrainian websites and online resources.

.ru is the country and regional top-level domain (ccTLD) for Russia and is a common URL ending for websites and online resources within Russia. Typically, .ru domains are used to identify websites, individuals or organizations in Russia.
