A very interesting phenomenon emerged in the public domain name trading market in August: the top 20 highest-priced domain name transactions were all for .com and .ai domains.
Looking at the list, Stan.com led the pack with $750,000, followed closely by Zano.com at $500,000; Folk.com, Of.ai, and Orchestra.ai all reached $250,000. Meanwhile, several .ai domains entered the $100,000+ range, demonstrating the continued penetration of .ai in the high-end market.

.com Still Holds the Ceiling
The highest prices in August still came from .com domains. High-quality .com domains such as Stan.com, Zano.com, Folk.com, H2.com, and Joiner.com occupied the top spots on the list. For established companies, .com still possesses the strongest brand recognition, commercial trust, and long-term asset attributes. The advantage of .com is not just its scarcity, but also that it has become the default naming asset in the global business internet.
.ai Is Gaining a Place
More noteworthy is the sheer number of .ai domains. Domains such as Of.ai, Orchestra.ai, Perform.ai, Team.ai, Kingdom.ai, Truescan.ai, and School.ai have all surpassed $100,000. This indicates a shift: .ai is gradually transforming from a "speculative commodity in the AI boom" into a brand asset that AI companies are willing to continuously pay for. In the past, a six-figure .ai transaction might have been considered an isolated case; now, multiple transactions appear simultaneously on the high-priced list, indicating a changing market position.
$100K is becoming a significant dividing line.
If we take the publicly disclosed cash transaction threshold of $100,000 as the benchmark, the high-end domain name market remained quite active in August.
The fact that only .com and .ai domains are on the list further illustrates that the current high-value domain name market's funds are highly concentrated in mature .com domains and AI-era .ai domains.
Of course, this list only counts publicly disclosed cash transactions; private transactions and bundled deals are not included, so it cannot represent the complete market size.
However, from these names, at least one clear trend can be seen:
.com domains hold the ceiling, while .ai domains secure a place.
One represents the scarcity of mature internet assets, and the other represents the growth potential of new assets in the AI era.
